As much as I like Julianne Moore as an actress, I had a tough time picturing her as Hillary Clinton in the HBO Films/BBC Films movie The Special Relationship (is it sad that whenever I see that title I think of Hugh Grant, as Prime Minister, saying that to sleazy US President played by Billy Bob Thornton in Love Actually?). Now, due to a scheduling conflict,
Moore has pulled out of the project and Hope Davis has taken her place.
This makes much more sense to me, as Davis resembles Clinton a bit more, and I think she is such a versatile, engaging actress, and she deserves more roles and more recognition.

Julianne Moore believes that children are our future and is doing all she can to ensure that they make it. The Academy Award nominated actress serves as a Save the Children artist ambassador and presented the agency's
"The Disaster Decade: Lessons Unlearned for the United States" report recently.
According to the text, only seven out of 50 states meet the minimum preparedness standards for protecting children during disasters, which includes effective systems for family reunification and shelters that separate tots from adults to keep them safe from predators.

I've been monitoring some interesting casting news for a movie titled Special Relationship, about the Clinton White House, which will be written and directed by Peter Morgan (of
Frost/Nixon). The project is
the latest in a group of movies penned by Morgan — including
The Queen — and
it will "show how Bill's 'inappropriate relationship' with White House intern Monica Lewinsky nearly ended his time in power." Yowza, right?

I used to play in my mom's jewelry all the time — I still do. If this is you too,
you probably voted for a statement necklace as your favorite trend of '08. The reader favorite was over-the-top shoes, and you know me, so this was a tough call.

Nothing says chic like dressing in all black. This darkness makes for instant drama and sex appeal. There are no rules to styling this trend, so get creative when putting your outfit together.

New Yorkers were seeing double the other day when gorgeous Julianne Moore and her adorable daughter, Liv Freundlich, stepped out into the chill bundled up in wool peacoats and slim trousers.
Dressed in dark neutral tones, the duo's outfits complemented their thick heads of red hair, fair complexions and pale eyes. The classic wardrobe staple is cute on the six-year-old and equally chic on her mum proving that investing in a traditional garment will get you Winter upon Winter of wear.

Three years ago Tom Ford formed the production company Fade to Black and today he finally stopped us guessing what his first move might be. Plans were
recently unveiled for Ford's directorial debut for a movie titled, A Single Man. The movie is based on the book of the same name by
Christopher Isherwood.

I wonder if Julianne saw Michelle Obama in her Thakoon red and purple print dress when
she wore it at the Democratic National Convention. Needless to say, it's a cute little shift — from Thakoon's '09 Resort collection — appropriate for both political functions and film festivals, where Julianne wore a shorter hem version. Michelle adorned her neckline and was comfy in black flats, while Julianne opted for chunky nude platforms.
This year's
Cannes Film Festival opened with the premiere of Blindness, starring Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo and Gael Garcia Bernal. The movie's out on November 21 in the UK, and I'd love to know what you think of the trailer — so, will you see it? Or will you skip it?
