I was cleaning out my closet today and what should I find but years worth of "your free gift" bags that came with those irresistable holiday blockbusters that I have to get every year! I'm addicted to those things!! I lined em up and took a pic for you guys - and these are just the 10 that I've KEPT over the years!! Mostly from Elizabeth Arden (she always has great holiday blockbusters) but occasionally I have to go with Estee Lauder or Lancome if the colors are right. Eye-wink But WHAT do I do with all these bags?? They are just hanging out in my closet, lol! Okay, I've decided to stop getting these things every year now that I'm dedicating myself to exclusively wearing Bare Escentuals. Can I do it? I don't know, I may need intervention!

Free bags, what to do with them!Free bags, what to do with them!

I wish we lived closer!! I would be coming over for the black one, the tan one, and the funky purple one!! Giving the unused ones as Christmas gifts sounds like a great idea. Grab some samples from the makeup counters and put some in one to give as a great hostess gift.

EBay them! Craigslist them! Or if there FREE, I'll take the purple croc looking one next to the tote with the gold straps.

I'm seriously blushing over here now.. If I knew Bella would link my photo to the front page I would have at least moved my hamper out of the picture! LOL!

That purple 'lizard' one in the back is one that i use for a gym bag... or a small weekender! If there was a little clutch that came with it, I did some simple embroidery on it... (complete with faux pearls) and I used it as a clutch for heading out to the bar... Way better than getting a more expensive purse bar-filthy!

My suggestion, if you are crafty, is to alter them... paint a lil something on them, add some applique's some lace, some edging.... GIVE THEM A MAKEOVER!

Ha ha ha, I have the same problem. I keep giving them away to other people. But, some of the Lancome ones I've kept and use as beach bags.

I use mine to store other things I don't know what to do with in my closet.... it really is a sickness, isn't it?

I love those too. I use a few of the smaller ones for my ipod and it's accessories or for to-go cutlery and napkins.

I use mine to wrap gifts. Just fill them with tissue and a bow on top. It's like two gifts in one!

Use them as shoppers! None of them look great for grocery shopping, but you can switch them in and out when you go Christmas shopping to keep your shopping fresh and stylish...and save the environment!

i give most of mine away to thrift stores or salvation army or goodwill or wherever i donate my old clothes. i keep some of the smaller ones for make up and replace them as i get cooler new ones- but i never use the large ones so i donate them with my clothes. i figure why not- some one might want them!! some of them are pretty big!

Take them to a battered women's shelter. I'm sure that the women there would LOVE to have them. The bigger ones are great because they can make "safe" bags out of them Smiling
Plus it's the season of giving....

If you're not using them, I'd donate them to charity. Alot of them are cute and someone will be happy to have a stylish bag Smiling

Cute purple and black and cream purses. Try to sell them on Ebay or use them as magazine holders.

You should use them as gift bags for christmas presents for your female friends. It'll save you time and effort in regards to wrapping odd shaped presents and has more uses than the traditional paper gift bag. They'll also make your presents look that much more unique in comparison to all the others.

If I were you I would give them all to me. Smiling

But seriously, a lot of those are cute! Keep them. Or go with judeandam's idea, that would definitely make your presents unique.

donate them to a women's shelter, where they can be put to good use, some of them could be used for women to take on job interviews.

Excellent ideas everyone, thanks so much for the input!! I love the idea of using them as gift wrap and of course giving them away. I've been debating getting rid of them for a while but I like them!! LOL!

Put them up for swap on makeupalley.com. You could probably get some cool stuff in exchange for your bags. i love that site!

Absolutely donate them to charity. You'll make someone's day when she can buy one of these for less than a dollar.

Well it depends. If I like the bag, then I would keep it & use it. Or I could use them as gift bags.

I say that you can donate them to dress for success. They are really nice looking bags and they would work out great for a woman to bring to work with her even if they do say Lancome on them.

I keep my kids activities organized by keeping all the related "stuff" in separate tote bags. Over the years that has included cub scouts, girl scouts, music, craft classes, etc. Spare pens, notebook and so on in each. I just grab the appropriate bag and I'm ready to go.

Also, I always carry a purse *and* a tote to work, all the odds and ends go in the tote and I don't have to carry too many separate items or a huge purse.

Gift packaging is a great idea. I'd also suggest donating the nicer ones to an organization that collects business-appropriate clothing for people trying to make a fresh start. I believe there are several around. (Oh, I see someone mentioning "Dress for Success" above.) I think that's better targeting than just dumping them at Goodwill.

ok am I the only one that buys the product just to get the free bag? If you dont want them give them to smaller girls. It makes them feel really special and grown up. I do it with my four year old and she will use it forever.
