I just completed this over the weekend, and was much easier than I thought it would be. Here are the instructions.

Scarf measures approx. 10" wide x 72" long.
Amount: 15 oz bulky weight yarn
Crochet Hook: U.S. Size N-15 (10mm)
Gauge: In pat- 8sts=4"; 5rows=4" (check your gauge use any size hook to obtain the gauge given)

Chain 24
Row 1: Skip first 5 chains, (2 double crochet in next chain, skip next chain) 9 times, one double crochet in last chain, turn.
Row 2: Chain 3, skip first double crochet, (2 double crochet in space between next 2 double crochet) 9 times, double crochet in top of turning chain; turn.
Repeat Row 2 for pattern until 72" from beginning. Fasten off.
Fold scarf in half. Beginning at the fold, sew a 10" seam to form hood. Weave in ends.
