redrum... redrum

Tada! I said I'd do it... heres the end result.

I made these the easy way. I used a box of red velvet cake mix and replaced the liquid with rum. For the frosting, I bought ready made and added LOTS of red food color and a bit of rum extract. Topped with red sugar and little mini skulls they look like just the thing for a quiet winter retreat in the mountains.

(hehehe. Again to Mr. Stephen King, Happy Birthday)

Apparently there is an actual RedRum. I've been told I'm to buy some and make these.

sarahkushner that looks SO good...but where did you find the red velvet cake mix? I haven't seen it in stores and did an internet search but couldn't find anything. And did you replace ALL the liquid with rum?

I used Betty Crocker. I think it gets swiped up pretty fast, the box I picked up was the last one on the shelf.

I didn't replace the eggs and oil with rum, just the water that it called for... but I suppose if you REALLY like rum, you could replace the oil too... hehe

Those are too cute!! Something cool to make for an adult Halloween party, not for the kids.
