I've spent the last month of two trying to figure out HOW to have my hair at my brother's upcoming wedding. So I finally decided to have finger waves, since my hair is at bob length and would look cool in a twenties style. My dilemma is... how do I do this wonderful idea? I don't live anywhere that might have a hairdresser who could perform this. Believe me the place is TOO small! So any ideas how to create the look at home?

A couple of ways you can do this:

With damp hair well conditioned, using a medium roller, set hair. Add a small amount of mousse to hair before rolling. Allow hair to dry, either under a hooded dry or air drying. Take out rollers once hair is dry. Add a shine serum to the hands and run through curls, loosening them. Finger tousle into desired style. This will produce bouncy curls.

For a more structured wave, take sections of hair, coat with a mousse or setting lotion, then using the middle and index fingers, push hair up. A wave crest will form between the fingers. Secure wave with a clip under the wave. Go the length of the hair, making sure to make waves larger for longer hair, smaller for shorter hair. Use a large roller on the end. Allow hair to dry, under hooded dryer preferably. Remove clips and rollers once dry. Finger tousle curls. Spray with hair spray.

You can produce this with a curling iron, once curl is cool, roll hair upright into curl for bigger bouncier curls or into a pincurl in order to pin hair back or for an updo. Allow hair to cool completely, spray with a shine serum. Spray with holding spray right before removing pins or rollers. Finger into desired style. Or lighty comb out with wide tooth comb for more body.

    Smooches!

Thanks klynnmorton I'll have to try it. Anyone else got any ideas on how to recreate that 1920's marcel wave?
