As a native Baltimoron, Poe is on my 'neat' list. I like Christopher Walken, however his reading leaves me saying "Why didn't you ??? ... !!!"

He's stuck on a very dry 'iambic pentameter' rant. His voice is, of course, the caliber to instill consternation in those who hear it however he doesn't *quite* use the power of his voice during the reading.

The sound effects are annoying and the guitar does not approach a threshold that I'd dub as adequate dissonance. A reading laced with more reverberation than McDonalds affords oil to fries is a 'tell tale' sign (alluding to another work of Poe) that someone could be doing a better reading.

All of this spells, "How I convey a reading compensates for how I read it."

I'll have to record a reading of this (dare I try to do any better?) and send it.

Thanks, however, for the post Smiling

No problem - You should definitely post your rendition of the reading if it moves you. Smiling

I have recorded a rendition using my best Pee-wee Herman voice if anyone would like to hear it.
