I live in a city where I have to drive nearly a half an hour to get quality produce. Yesterday I wanted mojitos very badly and I went to 4 grocery stores before I found some mint.
Consequently, I am very interested in starting an herb garden for sure, but perhaps a veggie garden as well. I live in Michigan, so I am thinking that if I could do an herb garden that could survive indoors during the winter that would be fabulous. Any ideas?

start by seed indoor in big enough pots for it to grow (or you can transfer them in later but I find that tricky).. put in a window that gets 8 hours of direct sun. I'm sure your herbs would grow. I did my first herb garden outdoors this year and my basil/parsley/thyme is about 1 inch big... by the time they are BIG the season will be over LOL!! I have Chives and they are a perennial... But my dill that I started from seed came up beautifully and HUGE. Hope my rambling helped.
