congrats! i was really excited when i got engaged too. a friend gave me a t-shirt that had "bride to be" across the front in seed pearls. it became almost like my uniform, lol. but everyone is different. i've seen baseball style hats with the same type of thing on them. all fun to me. enjoy your engagement.

Tacky would be more like "I'm engaged. . . wanna date?" or something like that.

The "finally" is what makes it truly lame. It's implying that women's lives center around securing a man or that the man who is special to you required begging, pleading, ultimatums and such to ask you to marry him. People are saying it's tacky; I'm going with demeaning. Just enjoy making the phone calls to tell the good news.
